Traveling by Car (Recommended)

We highly recommend renting a car to explore the area and have flexibility. Borgo Laticastelli is easily reachable by car from several airports:

  • Florence - 1 hour

  • Perugia - 1 hour

  • Pisa - 2 hours

  • Rome - 2.5 hours

For international flights, Rome typically offers the most options.

If you’re traveling solo and would like to coordinate with other guests for a shared drive to Laticastelli, let us know and we’ll connect you!

Traveling by Train or Bus

If you prefer not to rent a car, you can take a train or bus to Siena, which is a 25-minute drive from Borgo Laticastelli.

  • From Florence: ~2 hours by train or ~1.5 hours by bus

  • From Rome: ~3 hours by train or bus

Please note: While this is a viable option, it takes longer than driving and may limit your ability to explore the area once you're there.

Accommodation

Guests will stay either on-site at Borgo Laticastelli or nearby at Relais Casanova. We’ve reserved both locations for all three nights (June 12th-15th) and will reach out individually with accommodation options once we have a clearer idea of headcount and on-site capacity.

If you plan to stay elsewhere, please let us know as soon as possible.

  • Costs: €165 per person, per night (€495 total for the weekend) for accommodations at either Borgo Laticastelli or Relais Casanova.

  • Meals: Breakfast is included at both locations. Meals will be provided at each wedding event held at Laticastelli. Please note: Lunch on Saturday and dinner on Sunday are on your own - you’re welcome to dine at Laticastelli’s restaurant or explore the area.

  • Transportation: For guests staying at Relais Casanova, we’ll provide transportation to and from Borgo Laticastelli for all wedding events.

  • Accessibility: Some rooms require one flight of stairs. If you need a ground floor room, please let us know and we’ll reserve one for you.

Things to do

Tuscany is full of beautiful towns and wineries. Below are some recommendations if you plan to spend extra time exploring!

Siena (25 min from the Borgo)

  • Medieval city known for its Gothic architecture and the famous Palio horse race

  • Do: Climb Torre del Mangia and visit the Duomo

  • Eat: Taverna di San Guiseppe, Osteria Quattro Venti, Ristorante Mugolone, Tre Cristi Enoteca, Vivace Ristorante

  • Fun fact: Siena is divided into 17 medieval neighborhoods called contrade, each with its own animal symbol and intense rivalry during the Palio, a bareback horse race held every summer in Piazza del Campo since 1482

Pienza (40 min from the Borgo)

  • 15th century “ideal city” of the Renaissance and home to some of Tuscany’s best pecorino cheese

  • Do: Tour Palazzo Piccolomini and stroll Via dell’Amore

  • Eat: La Taverna del Pecorino (pecorino tasting), Podere il Casale (farm-to-table), La Terrazza del Choistro

  • Drink: Bar il Casello, Idyllium (great for aperitivo)

  • Fun fact: A famous scene from Gladiator was filmed just outside of Pienza - search “Gladiator scene” on Google Maps to find it

Montalcino (1 hr from the Borgo)

  • Picturesque hilltop town famous for its Brunello di Montalcino wine

  • Do: Walk the fortress walls and go wine tasting

  • Eat: Boccon Divino (great views), Alle Logge di Piazza

  • Wineries: Castiglion del Bosco, Argiano, Corte Pavone, Podere Le Ripi, Castello Banfi, Frescobaldi

  • Fun fact: Montalcino is also known for its artisanal honey - try the chestnut or wildflower varieties while you're here

Montepulciano (30 min from the Borgo)

  • Renaissance town known for its architecture and Vino Nobile wine

  • Do: Wander Piazza Grande and visit the underground wine cellars

  • Eat: Ristorante La Grotta, Osteria Porta di Bacco

  • Wineries: Avignonesi, Contucci, De’ Ricci Cantine Storiche, Azienda Agricola Canneto, Salcheto

  • Fun fact: Beneath the town is a maze of ancient wine cellars, some dating back to Etruscan times, and many of which are open for tastings

Cortona (35 min from the Borgo)

  • Ancient Etruscan town with sweeping views over the Val di Chiana

  • Do: Visit the Eremo Le Celle monastery and Museo Diocesano

  • Eat: Il Falconiere, La Bucaccia, Villa di Piazzano

  • Fun fact: The movie Under the Tuscan Sun was filmed here

San Gimignano (1 hr from the Borgo)

  • Medieval town known for its iconic towers and Vernaccia white wine

  • Do: Climb Torre Grossa and explore the Duomo

  • Eat: Gelateria Dondoli, La Mandragola

  • Wineries: La Marronaia

  • Fun fact: San Gimignano once had 72 stone towers, built by rival families as symbols of power. 13 of these still stand today
